Air China pay row sends cabin pressure sky-high

More than 100 Air China pilots are demanding more pay, more rest and less work in a dispute that they claim could threaten passenger safety, the South China Morning Post reported Tuesday, citing an open letter signed by the pilots.

The pilots claim in the letter that the conditions are undermining their physical and mental health and they are paid less than foreign pilots at the company, who enjoy longer rest and easier routes, the report said.

The unequal terms and “the arrogance in the bones of white people” are creating tension between Chinese and foreign pilots, and “will eventually threaten flight safety”, it said.
