A Shanghai court has ordered the operators of video sharing website tudou.com to pay 248,000 yuan (US$39,800) to China Central Television International Network Co. for infringing the copyright of a popular food show, Shanghai Daily reported Tuesday, citing the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration.
The Minhang District People’s Court ruled that tudou.com broadcast episodes of the network’s food and culture show “A Bite of China” without authorization, the report said.
The defendant argued that users uploaded the shows to the site.
The network claimed compensation from the site’s operator, Shanghai Quan Toodou Cultural Communication Co, for its losses, and expenses in investigating the case, it said.
