Actress Fan Bingbing tops 2014 Forbes China Celebrity 100

Actress Fan Bingbing has beaten out Hong Kong actor Andy Lau and Taiwanese musician Jay Chou to again top this year’s Forbes China Celebrity 100 list, which ranks the most influential entertainment and sports celebrities from mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, according to the Forbes China website.

Fan, the star of Feng Xiaogang’s Cell Phone, earned as much as 120 million yuan (US$19.5 million) last year thanks to more film and TV roles as well as income from modeling, it said.

Most celebrities on the list are actors and singers, but there are also three athletes and three writers. French Open champion and Australian Open runner-up Li Na came in eighth, Olympic badminton champion Lin Dan 47th and footballer Zheng Zhi 86th.

Tiny Times writer and director Guo Jingming ranked 27th, writer Han Han was 71st, and online writer Tangjia Sanshao debuted on the list at 87th.

The list also sees many newcomers this year, including Taiwan actor Wallace Huo (82), and Hong Kong pop singer Gem Tang (91), it said.

The total income of all the celebrities on the list amounted to 3.43 billion yuan (US$ 557.7million), down 10.3 percent from the previous year.

The China Celebrity 100 is a list published annually by Forbes magazine and ranks Chinese celebrities on factors such as income, search engine hits, as well as exposure in newspapers, in magazines and on television.
