A Chinese luxury travel agency has got the ball rolling with the World Cup by signing up eight people for its 775,000 yuan (US$124,433) trip to watch the event’s final in Brazil on July 13.
The final is part of a 45-day trip across five continents that includes VIP seats in Rio De Janeiro and business-class flights all round, according to the agency’s website.
“The price is crazily high. I’ll be watching the final in a pub,” Apple Daily quoted one soccer fan as saying.
Information Times reported Friday that group tours to South America with World Cup-related itineraries are about twice as expensive as general South America tours offered at Guangzhou travel agencies.
Most of the trips are for between seven and nine days, with prices starting at 30,000 yuan, the report said.
Trips priced between 80,000 yuan and 200,000 yuan are more popular, a business insider was quoted as saying, adding that most of the customers are from professional sports companies, fan clubs and the property and financial industries.
