Beijing police will deploy 150 armed patrol cars on major streets in the capital from Monday to bolster counter-terrorism efforts in the capital, the Beijing Morning Post reported Monday, citing the Beijing Public Security Bureau.
Each car will have 13 armed officers employed specifically to handle terrorist attacks, mass violence or armed fights, the report said.
Officers are expected to be at the scene of an attack within three minutes of receiving an alarm.
Terrorist activities in China are on the rise and mainly target government institutions, police and the army, according to the government’s first national security blue paper.
