Kong Zhaoping, deputy director of the Shanghai Railway Bureau, has been detained over discipline violations on April 29, news portal Sina.com reported Monday, citing an unnamed source.
Deputy general engineer Meng Jingen was also arrested on March 19 for economic crimes.
Kong is likely to be questioned about his tenure as general manager of the Hejiu Railway Co., which was responsible for the construction of the 320-kilometer railway connecting Hefei and Jiujiang cities with a total investment of 2.887 billion yuan (US$462.46 million).
Sources close to the Shanghai Railway Bureau said several other senior executives are under disciplinary investigation.
