A clubhouse sandwich in Hong Kong’s major hotels costs more than the same order in a similar establishment in New York, according to an index compiled by Hotels.com.
The index, which compares sandwich prices in 840 hotels in 28 cities, shows that the average price in Hong Kong is HK$165 (US$21.28), compared with HK$135 in New York, the Hong Kong Economic Times reported Wednesday.
Hong Kong, in fact, has risen two notches from last year’s ranking to place eighth on the list. The two cities with the most expensive club sandwiches are Geneva at HK$253 and Paris at HK$228.
In Asia, Hong Kong’s club sandwich price is next only to Tokyo’s HK$171, but higher than Seoul’s HK$157, Singapore’s HK$119, Beijing’s HK$105 and Taipei’s HK$96.
The index doesn’t say anything about the quality of the club sandwiches, but perhaps it is assumed that they all taste superb, although the prices could make some people choke.
