HK fan shows full-page affection for K-drama star

A Hong Kong woman has made a 40 million South Korean won (HK$303,000) bid for attention from K-pop star and actor Kim Soo-hyun, taking out a full-page ad in national daily The Chosun Ilbo to wish him luck in an awards ceremony, am730 reported Tuesday.

The advertisement, reportedly placed by a wealthy Hong Kong woman, declared her eternal love and support for Kim, who is in the running for four gongs at the 50th Baeksang Arts Awards Tuesday.

The report said some affluent women had offered HK$10 million for a dinner with Kim, the star of the hit TV series “My Love from the Stars”, when he was in Hong Kong last month.

Interest in the series is also starting to generate its own academic industry, with Seoul National University hosting a seminar last week on the Chinese frenzy over the drama, the report said.
