Face value: If Xi ever needs a body double …

If he wasn’t selling his home-style pork belly buns near Hunan University in Changsha, 43-year-old vendor Shao Jianhua from Hangzhou looks like he could be leading a nation and mixing with prime ministers and presidents.

Shao certainly looks the part — he bears a striking resemblance to Chinese President and Communist Party leader Xi Jinping, Want China Times reports, quoting Chinese media website Gucheng.

Since opening his tiny 10 square meter store in 2009, Shao has received countless comments about similarities in his appearance to the head of state. The legend of looks has grown to a whole new level since netizens began spreading the word online.

There are now long lines outside the store every day, with at least a half-hour wait during the after-school peak hours. Shao says the store’s record is selling 1,600 buns in a day.

If the bottom ever falls out of the bun business, he could always look into being a body double.
