Thanks but please no donations, says father of murdered infant

Lam Chi-kuen’s only wish now is to raise his nine-year-old son.

Ming Pao Daily reported Monday that the father of an infant girl allegedly killed by his estranged wife thanked the public for their words of encouragement but did not want any donations or assistance from the city’s social security scheme.

“I do not want my son to grow up under a sense of pity. I would like to be with him and see him grow up happy,” Lam said.

The boy, who was outside the flat when his mother allegedly stabbed the 18-month-old girl to death, is in Caritas Hospital for observation and has not been fully informed of the incident.

Lam said that he had considered in the last few days buying a mobile phone for his son so they could keep in closer contact but feared the child might find out details about the death of his sister.

The 36-year-old mother has been charged with murder and is receiving treatment at Castle Peak Hospital, the report said.
