Hong Kong Disney Princess crowned Miss USA

Hong Kong Disneyland has something new to crow about, even if it doesn’t really pertain to the park’s current attractions.

Nia Sanchez, the woman who was crowned Miss USA on Sunday at Baton Rouge, Louisiana, once worked as a Disney Princess at the Hong Kong themed resort, taking on a variety of characters including Cinderella and Snow White.

The 24-year-old is a black belt in taekwondo and believes women should be able to defend themselves, according to a Headline Daily report.

Before winning the Miss USA title, Sanchez worked at Hong Kong Disneyland as a princess figure in the park’s daily parade shows. She recalled the seven months working in Hong Kong as one of the best experiences in her life. The culinary delicacies of the city are said to have been one of her joys.

At 5’8″ and with brown hair and eyes, Sanchez lived for a period of time in a women’s shelter at a young age with her mother after her parents separated, the report said.

As an adult, she is said to have volunteered at women’s shelters on a regular basis, in a bid to give back to those institutions that offer help to women.

Sanchez will represent the US at the Miss Universe competition later this year.
