Social networking site Facebook was down at about 4 pm Hong Kong time Thursday, with the reason for the outage unclear.
Users found that they could not log into their Facebook accounts through desktop computers and mobile devices.
Hill & Knowlton Strategies, a public relations agency representing Facebook in Hong Kong, told EJ Insight that US-based staff of the social network giant has noticed that there was a problem. The company is trying to find out the reason and assess the impact, the agency said.
The system collapse has affected the webpages of many Hong Kong media entities, which are using a lot of plug-ins provided by the US-based company.
