The University of London and the London School of Economics and Political Science will jointly offer a one-year pre-college program in Hong Kong from September this year.
The program, the first in Asia by the two famous British educational institutions, will enable students to save on costs since they don’t need to go to the United Kingdom, where living expenses could be as high as HK$100,000 (US$12,900) a year excluding tuition, Ming Pao Daily reported on Friday.
The program charges a tuition of HK$198,000 and will only admit 15 students per school year, the report said. Graduates are considered holders of a UK secondary education diploma.
Jennifer Ma, founder of the local Arch Academy which has been authorized to conduct the program, said graduates of the program are not guaranteed admission to either of the universities, but those with above-average grades will get priority.
Meanwhile, students and parents can learn more about their choices for studying abroad at the Hong Kong International Education Expo scheduled to be held on July 5-6. More than 250 colleges and universities from the UK, Australia, Switzerland, Japan, and other countries will participate.
