Guangdong steps up prostitution crackdown

The Guangdong authorities are barring massage parlors from having doors with locks and sauna houses from setting up private rooms inside massage suites in a stepped-up campaign against prostitution, the Financial Times reported Tuesday.

As part of its “exterminate yellow” campaign, the province has told massage parlors to install windows and CCTV cameras, telling them to keep video footage for 30 days, the report said.

The anti-prostitution crusade started in February in Dongguan and comes as President Xi Jinping takes aim at corruption and extravagance, it said.
