World Cup widows protest in Shanghai

So it isn’t just the bosses who are complaining.

A group of about a dozen women staged a protest action in Shanghai on Tuesday, fuming over the lonely nights and days they have to suffer as one of the most spectacular sporting events in the world turns their boyfriends and husbands into uncaring, sleep-deprived zombies.

The women found their common cause on an online chat platform and decided to assemble at the Century Avenue Metro station to voice out their grievances, Shanghai Daily reported. They held banners and handed out leaflets to commuters and passersby, telling those who cared to listen that since the FIFA World Cup kicked off in Brazil last month, their partners rarely have had sex with them.

The men also dipped into their savings or used Alipay to bet on the games, often got drunk, and wouldn’t talk to them unless the topic was World Cup.

Ladies, just a few more days and your suffering will be over. Your partners will come back to you, full of love and affection — if they ever were.
