Samsung Electronics Co. will temporarily stop dealings with a supplier in Dongguan after accusations that the supplier used child labor, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday.
New York-based nonprofit China Labor Watch last week accused Samsung overlooking the use of child labor at supplier Shinyang Electronics Co. in the southern Chinese industrial city, the report said. It said some underage workers were using other people’s IDs to get hired at the factory.
Samsung then conducted its own investigation and found evidence of “illegal hiring process”, the report quoted the company as saying.
Shinyang could not be reached for comment.
