Dream wedding in Finnish fantasyland

They have a theme park named in their honor, their own hotel rooms, even a museum in their native Finland.

The object of this adoration is a bunch of children’s book characters, called the Moomins, perhaps Finland’s most beloved icon next to Santa Claus.

Half a world away in Japan, they’re something of a cultural phenomenon, and getting married in their presence is a fantasy come true.

So it was for three couples that participated in Finnair Japan’s Facebook contest. The wedding ceremony was held in the Moomin World theme park in Naantali, southern Finland, with no less than Snufkin officiating.

The Moomins are especially popular this year, the 100th year of the birth of their creator, Tove Jansson, which is being celebrated throughout the country.
