After a successful run in Britain, Australia Dubai, Ireland and Russia, what does a celebrity entrepreneur chef like Jamie Oliver do for an encore?
Open a restaurant in Hong Kong and line up openings in Canada, India and Sweden.
Oliver launched his Hong Kong restaurant on Tuesday and already, it’s booked solid Friday nights and weekends, according to Apple Daily.
The restaurant in bustling Causeway Bay district has a Hong Kong feel to it. Designed by Britain’s MBDS, it’s decorated with images of shipping containers in its open kitchen.
Two dragon and lucky dog graffitis by Barnaby Purdy and local artist Barlo complete the theme.
Oliver began his restaurant business in Britain in 2008 but at the time, he had no plans to expand overseas, he told Bloomberg.
Today, he has 40 outlets in Britain and a growing chain of restaurants in Australia, Dubai, Ireland and Russia, with Canada, India and Sweden next in his sights.
