A group of middle-aged Chinese women was the cynosure of all eyes at a digital entertainment trade fair in Shanghai on Thursday, providing a dash of excitement to the industry event.
Visitors to the China Digital Entertainment Expo & Conference (commonly known as ChinaJoy), which kicked off on July 31, got a pleasant surprise when they saw the so-called Chinese Dama dance away merrily at one of the company booths.
The costumed group danced to a popular song “The Hottest Ethnic Trend”. In between performances, they held aloft a banner that read: “Enjoy the game, but remember to keep everything in moderation”.
According to the Thepaper.cn, the average age of the Dama dance group members was more than 50. They were said to have been invited by an exhibitor to put up the performance.
“It’s not the first time for us to be invited to dance. We had won prizes in square dances,” the leader of the group, a 53-year-old who gave her surname as Zhang, was quoted as saying.
Some exhibition visitors said it’s a novel thing at ChinaJoy and that they would mark “Like” for the Damas if they can. Some others joked that the Damas’ dance was more interesting than that of the show girls elsewhere with their standardized beautiful faces, Eastday.com noted.
The Dama dance group did the show for free, aiming to remind both the game addicts and some aggressive square dance groups that “enough is enough”, Thepaper.cn said.
