China tightens rules on portable phone chargers on planes

The Civil Aviation Administration of China has announced new rules on the carriage of mobile phone chargers by airline passengers.

Portable chargers with a power rating of less than 100Wh are allowed as cabin luggage and for such items, passengers do not need to report them to the airline.

Chargers rated between 100 and 160Wh require approval from the airline. Each passenger is allowed to carry no more than two such chargers.

Those with a power rating above 160Wh are not allowed in the cabin. All portable chargers without clear power rating are not allowed on the plane.

The new regulations prohibit passengers and flight crew from using portable charges during flights.
