London subway drama: Baby survives fall to rail tracks

A baby who was blown in its buggy onto the tracks in a London subway, survived by the closest of margins.

Britain’s The Guardian newspaper got hold of a CCTV footage of the drama and posted it online.

The clip shows the moment the baby’s buggy runs on to the tracks in what looked like a deserted platform at London’s Goodge Street underground station.

The buggy is blown from a pedestrian cross-tunnel by a gust of wind as a train passes, falling down on to the tracks an instant afterwards. The buggy misses the train.

A woman jumps down on to the rails to rescue the infant, apparently uninjured.

Police are seeking the identity of the child and its parents.
