A young woman is in critical condition in a hospital after being found unconscious at the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club (RHKYC), Apple Daily reported Monday.
Rainko Tai, 22, was not breathing and had no pulse when she was lifted out of the water during a poolside party in the yacht club.
She received treatment in an intensive care unit consistent with a patient who had suffered heart failure, the report said.
Tai went with some friends to the party, organized by the Australian Rugby Club, in which food and alcohol were served all night.
Tai’s friends said she went missing for 15 minutes around 1 a.m. Sunday.
Her family said Tai is an able swimmer and accused the yacht club’s lifeguards of negligence. They said they are holding the club responsible for the incident.
RHKYC general manager Mark Bovaird said two lifeguards were on duty that night.
