Selfie was the word in 2013. Now there’s usie, a term to describe a group selfie.
Pronounced “uss-ee”, the word describes the trend of people taking a picture of themselves with other people, a fad popularized by Hollywood stars.
One Hong Kong company is hoping to ride the trend, especially among the city’s female population, by bringing in a usie device.
Microworks Technology Co., Ltd, an electronics distributor, plans to launch Xsories, a Usie device from France, at the Computer & Communications Festival on Friday, Apple Daily reported.
Usie has taken over social media streams from selfies after Pope Francis’ group selfie with visitors at the Vatican, the report quoted the Microworks chairman as saying. “We hope to introduce the latest product in the festival.”
The Xsories device will come in 14 colors and it can connect with mobile phones or cameras. Some models are equipped bluetooth enabled.
Amid the booming selfie market, Sony will soon launch a selfie-centric camera shaped like a perfume bottle.
