In a spectacular comeback concert after an absence of 35 years, pop icon Kate Bush electrified the audience with her rich and powerful voice at Hammersmith Apollo in West London on Tuesday night, Daily Mail reports.
Barefoot and dressed in black, the 56-year-old singer regaled the sold-out crowd with endearing favorites such as Hounds Of Love, Running Up That Hill and King Of The Mountain.
There was not much fanfare, and she spoke very little. The dancing acrobatics and histrionics of her earlier years were gone. But her magical, ethereal voice carried her through, with the audience giving a standing ovation to each of her songs.
Among the celebrities who joined the crowd were Lily Allen, Bjork, Marc Almond, Dave Gilmour from Pink Floyd and Holly Johnson.
When the tour was announced in March, all the tickets were sold out in less than 15 minutes. Before the start of her 22-night appearance at Hammersmith, they were changing hands for up to £1,000 (US$1,657), almost 10 times the face value, the newspaper said.
Bush lived up to the expectations.
