Dethroned beauty queen refuses to return US$100,000 crown

A beauty queen from Myanmar who has been stripped of her title refuses to return her US$100,000 crown until pageant organizers apologize for calling her a liar and a thief.

May Myat Noe, 16, won the Miss Asia Pacific World 2014 beauty competition held in Seoul in May, but the organizers dethroned her after accusing her of being ungrateful and dishonest, BBC News reported.

She was her country’s first ever international beauty queen.

May told reporters she was forced to lie about her age and that the organizers demanded that she have “head-to-toe” plastic surgery.

She also denied claims that she had run off with the crown, saying she had boarded the plane for Myanmar without realizing she had been dethroned.

Organizers had accused May of lying to them and not showing them respect, without giving details about their charges.

It later emerged that there was a disagreement between May’s mother and the organizers over how May would be managed, the report said.

The organizers now plan to sue May and ask the police to help retrieve the bejewelled Swarovski tiara, it added.
