Apple Inc. has seen pre-orders for its new larger-screen iPhones top 4 million units in the first 24 hours, surpassing the orders seen in the firm’s earlier handset releases, Bloomberg News reported.
Deliveries of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will start at the end of this week, when the smartphones officially go on sale. But an order backlog will mean that many buyers won’t receive their handsets until next month, the US tech giant was quoted as saying in a statement.
Apple said there will be some devices in stock in stores on Sept. 19 and encouraged customers to arrive early or order online for in-store pickup.
