Cable TV security guard injured in knife attack

A knife-wielding man stormed into television broadcaster Cable TV Hong Kong and attacked a security guard who tried to stop him.

The guard suffered injuries to the head, body and arms and was taken to hospital, government radio RTHK reported Monday.

Two company employees were wounded in the melee. The suspect was arrested after an hour-long stand-off.

The incident happened at 11: 30 a.m. when a half-naked man brandishing a knife entered the Cable TV offices in Tsuen Wan demanding to see someone about a customer service problem.

Close-circuit video footage shows the man still holding a knife when police officers wearing helmets and carrying shields came to arrest him. He had wounds in his hands, the report said.

Chief inspector Cheung Lap-ho said the suspect gave up after an hour of tense negotiations.

Cable TV said there are different ways customers can terminate their service contracts.
