Brittany Maynard’s ordinary life will have an extraordinary ending.
And when the time comes, she will have crossed out everything on her bucket list, said goodbye to family and friends and gone out on her own terms.
Maynard, a 29-year-old American, has started her final journey since being allowed to “die with dignity” under a state law on aided death.
The married woman has been diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma multiforme, an aggressive form of terminal brain cancer, according to Yahoo News.
In a video that went viral — 8.8 million views to date — Maynard set Nov. 1 as the day she checks out of life.
In a new video released Wednesday night, Maynard said she no longer has a set date.
“I still feel good enough, and I still have enough joy, and I still laugh and smile with my family and friends enough that it doesn’t seem like the right time right now,” Maynard said.
On thebrittanyfund.org website, Maynard shared photos from a recent trip to the Grand Canyon with her mother—the last item on her bucket list.
And in the latest video, she said she hopes that her husband Dan will move on and start a family after she is gone.
The Yahoo story inspired 1,192 comments and counting, praising her for her courage and embracing her humanity.
“I hope that I would be as strong if I were in such a situation,” one commenter said.
