Microsoft tablets find use as iPad stands

Microsoft honchos watching CNN’s coverage of the US midterm elections likely couldn’t believe their eyes.

The CNN anchors were using Microsoft Surface Pro tablets — as stands to hold their Apple iPads in place.

CNN anchors typically bring their own Apple iPads and MacBook Pros to the studio.

The Microsoft tablets were placed there on election night to provide access to CNN’s “Magic Wall,” which is owned by a company run by the tech giant.

Twitter users tweeted some hilarious screen captures of the novel use of the Microsoft tablets.

Microsoft has had an uphill task getting the Surface Pro recognized as a tablet distinct from its rivals.

The company recently signed an exclusive product placement deal with the National Football League but then had to stop game commentators from referring to the devices on air as iPads.

Steve Jobs must be chuckling in his grave.
