If the iPhone 6 looks insanely thin, wait till you get your hands on an Oppo smartphone.
What Oppo, you say.
Exactly. Because Oppo is a company no one has heard of, although it sounds an awful lot like the one Steve Jobs founded in his parents’ garage back in the day.
But while we’re at it, here’s the thing: Oppo is a Chinese start-up whose flagship R5 smartphone is being touted as a thinner, sleeker iPhone 6.
It weighs in at 4.85 millimeter from top to bottom, a full two millimeter thinner than the newest iPhone sensation.
It’s the thinnest smartphone in the world, too slim to fit a traditional headphone jack. You’ll need to use Oppo’s special adapter, which is included with the phone, according to Business Insider.
Although it’s super thin, the Oppo R5 comes with the same hardware specifications as its thicker competitors, including a 5.2-inch 1,080-pixel screen, two gigabytes of memory, and a 1.5-gigahertz octa-core processor, meaning its brain has eight different nerve centers that can each handle separate tasks.
Despite being thinner than the iPhone, it comes with a larger battery.
A 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and a five-megapixel front camera, unusually large compared to most phones, round out the nifty package.
The phone will be available in December and will cost US$499 contract-free.
