Student protest leaders have had their telephone numbers put up in banners and posters in several school campuses, raising privacy and safety concerns.
Lester Shum, secretary general of the Hong Kong Federation of Students and Joshua Wong, convenor of student activist group Scholarism, were the target of abuse in a poster campaign calling them “an alliance of idiots”, Ming Pao Daily reported Monday.
“After creating trouble for you, I will get away and reunite in the US,” one poster blared.
The posters and banners sprang up in several campuses including the Open University, St. Joan of Arc Secondary School, Pui Kiu Middle School and Clementi Secondary School, Scholarism said in a Facebook post.
Banners with the telephone numbers of several student leaders have been posted in several schools, the report said.
Wong said he has received several threatening calls from anonymous callers.
Some netizens accused Beijing loyalists of orchestrating the campaign using tactics to harass student leaders into calling off the protests which entered a seventh week Sunday.
Earlier, a property agent with Midland Realty apologized for leaking Wong’s home address and urging people to “occupy” his home.
