Teenage gang drew on classmate’s thigh using broken glass

Four teenage girls have admitted to charges of causing bodily harm to a female classmate, whom they accused of flirting with the boyfriend of one of the defendants, Ming Pao Daily reported Tuesday.

The four girls, three of them aged 15, allegedly punched and kicked their classmate at the backstairs of Sunshine City Plaza in Ma On Shan on April 7.

One of the defendants allegedly poured beer on the victim, broke the bottle and used a shard of glass to carve the Chinese character for “slutty” on the victim’s thigh, the report said.

Another defendant followed suit, carving a smiley face on the victim’s thigh.

The victim sustained multiple injuries to her thigh and was hospitalized for days.

Judge Ivy Chui Yee-mei said that it was a brutal act to injure someone with a broken piece of glass. She will hand out the sentences on Dec. 15, after reviewing the reports on the four defendants.

The defendants pleaded for leniency, saying they acted in the heat of the moment and did not realize the consequences of their actions.

It was revealed that one of the girls got furious after finding out that the victim was getting very friendly with her boyfriend, and that the victim was calling her names on social media. This prompted the defendant to seek revenge, the report said.
