Hong Kong’s Ocean Park is said to have drawn a record 600,000 visitors in November despite the Occupy civil disobedience movement in the city.
The marine-themed attraction saw more local visitors last month, Ming Pao Daily reported.
According to the park’s earnings report for the year ended June, it received 7.6 million visitors during the year, down 1.3 percent from the previous fiscal year. Half of them came from the mainland, while 35 percent were local residents and the rest from other nations.
The park posted a net profit of HK$633 million in the fiscal year, on revenue of HK$2 billion.
Ocean Park, however, recorded more deaths of marine and land creatures during the year. In the twelve months to June, 1,107 creatures, including fish, dolphin and birds, died at the park, marking a 60 percent jump over the previous year, according to the report.
