Move over, Candy Crush.
Facebook picks Cookie Jam, from developer SGN, as the best social game of the year.
Launched in May, the game now has more than five million players online.
“Cookie Jam has been an amazing success story. Users love it,” Bob Slinn, Facebook’s head of games partnerships, EMEA, told the Guardian. “We now have 375 million people playing games with Facebook across different platforms every month. It’s a huge audience.”
Candy Crush Soda Saga, the sequel to Candy Crush Saga, is one of nine runners-up named by the social network, the newspaper said. Bubble Witch Saga 2, another game developed by King, also makes it to the top 10.
The list includes Klondike, Kim Kardashian: Hollywod, Old Vegas Slots, League of Angels, Hero Defense, SuperCity, and Sparta: War of Empires.
Slinn said games that have become popular on Facebook went beyond the highly popular casual puzzler genre exemplified by Cookie Jam.
For example, Sparta: War of Empires is a strategy game while League of Angels focuses on role-playing, the report said.
