Bill Cosby will not be charged after a woman accused the comedian of molesting her in 1974, the Associated Press reported.
The Los Angeles county district attorney’s office said the statute of limitations has run out.
Judy Huth, now 55, sued Cosby early this month, claiming he molested her when she was 15 years old at the Playboy Mansion after they met on a movie set.
Huth said he gave her alcohol and then assaulted her. He told her to say she was 19 when asked, she said.
Cosby’s lawyer Martin Singer has denied her claims. He said Huth and the lawyer representing her in the lawsuit tried to extort money from Cosby, now 77.
“Over and over again, we have refuted these new unsubstantiated stories with documentary evidence, only to have a new uncorroborated story crop up out of the woodwork,” Singer said in a statement.
“When will it end? It is long past time for this media vilification of Mr. Cosby to stop.”
More than 20 women have come forward to accuse Cosby of drugging and sexual assault. He has not been charged with any crime.
