Two legs good, man’s best friend discovers

“How many legs does a dog have if you call the tail a leg?” Abraham Lincoln once asked with a twinkle in his eye.

The answer?

“Four,” Honest Abe said. “Calling a tail a leg doesn’t make it a leg.”

Well, this pooch in Shanghai seems to be doing just fine on its two hind legs.

With a white jacket, a red skirt, a Santa Claus hat and a backpack, Xiaoniu gave the residents of the city’s Zhengdajiayuan housing estate in Pudong district paws for thought, the Daily Express punned.

It quoted the canine’s owner, a Mr. Fang, 62, as saying he found Xiaoniu as an abandoned dog three years ago and taught it some tricks.

“Xiaoniu was smart, lovely and could walk upright for one hour after training,” Fang said.

While this doggie may not be ready for the catwalk, the amazing thing, to paraphrase the old joke, is that it can walk at all.
