Democracy banner up again on Lion Rock

You can’t put a good banner down.

So it seems some democracy supporters are saying that after a giant banner emblazoned with “I want genuine universal suffrage” resurfaced on Lion Rock two months after the old one was removed.

It hangs in the same spot as its predecessor, before it was taken down by authorities using a helicopter.

Another huge banner saying “Hong Kong, keep it up” was spotted on Devil’s Peak on Sunday.

However, it was gone in five hours after firemen removed it, citing safety concerns, Sky Post reported Monday.

In October, a group of rock climbers erected the Lion Rock banner at the height of the pro-democracy protests, boosting the activists’ morale.

Similar distinctive yellow banners sprouted up on hills such as Fei Ngor Shan, Tai Mo Shan and Devil’s Peak.

This month, a “CY, step down” banner was found on Lion Rock, followed by another with the words “Don’t forget the original goal” on Victoria Peak.
