Seven in 10 Hong Kong women are happy about their overall situation but not with their finances.
They scored six out of 10 in a general satisfaction index but registered five or lower on their financial status, Ming Pao Daily reported Monday.
The survey was based on interviews with 1,344 adult females in mid-February by Hong Kong shopping center Plaza Hollywood.
So Yim-fong, a supervisor in the Hong Kong Young Women’s Christian Association, said quite a few Hong Kong women are unhappy because of their heavy workload and financial difficulties.
Housewives are uneasy having to rely on their husbands’ income, she said.
Meanwhile, more than half of the interviewees said being single made them happy while a slightly lower proportion said being married does.
The figures reflect a change in the traditional idea that equates marriage with happiness, So was quoted as saying.
