China’s antigraft agency is investigating Dai Haibo, deputy secretary of the Shanghai municipal government and former deputy chief of the city’s free trade zone, The Wall Street Journal reported.
In a brief statement Tuesday, the Shanghai arm of the antigraft agency said Dai was being investigated for suspected “serious violations of discipline and law”.
The phrase is widely understood to mean corruption.
Dai stepped down from his post as deputy director of the Shanghai free trade zone in September.
