Discovery Bay homeowners say boo to message about ghosts

Your home may be haunted.

That’s what some owners of flats in the Siena development at Discovery Bay on Lantau Island were annoyed to be told in a text message recently, the Apple Daily reported Friday.

The mysterious message was apparently sent by a property agent.

It said there may be ghosts in the message recipient’s flat and asked whether the homeowner would like to sell it or rent it out at a lower price, the newspaper said.

The message contained the agent’s phone number and her license number.

One of the owners, a woman surnamed Chan, who has been living there for over eight years, was quoted as saying she is considering lodging a complaint with the regulator against the property agent.

But Chan noticed that the mobile phone number from which the message came did not match the contact number left in the message, leading her to wonder whether the agent might have been set up.

The agent claims she was framed and has sought help from police, the report said.

The regulator said it will investigate the complaints it has received.
