Prince Wong Ji-yuet, spokeswoman of the student group Scholarism, has gained entry into Malaysia on Thursday afternoon to attend an activist forum.
She is representing the group at the forum after Scholarism founder Joshua Wong Chi-fung was denied entry on Tuesday, Ming Pao Daily reported.
Forum organizers said they made sure the invitation to Prince Wong was kept totally confidential so that she would not be stopped by immigration authorities.
They also said a teleconference was being set up for Joshua Wong to address the forum on Friday night.
Writing on her Facebook page, Prince Wong said she felt very nervous as it was her first time to leave Hong Kong and she was afraid of flying.
She said the trip was a last-minute arrangement, adding that her parents supported her decision to go.
On Thursday night, she gave a speech in Johor Bahru on the topic “Why you, young people, don’t just focus on your studies?”
She narrated her experiences in last year’s pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong which her group spearheaded, and also about her participation in a hunger strike.
She will give another speech on Friday in Kuala Lumpur, where she will be joined by radical legislator Leung Kwok-hung, also known as “Long Hair”.
