Indonesian maid repeatedly abused children, court hears

An Indonesian maid repeatedly abused two young children in her care, a lawyer has told a magistrate’s court.

Adriana Marsalina, 38, is facing seven counts of child abuse on a four-year-old girl and her two-year-old brother, Ming Pao Daily reported Tuesday.

The lawyer presented video evidence which purports to show Marsalina mistreating the children.

In one clip, she is shown pulling and twisting the children’s arms for disobeying her and refusing to eat.

Another shows her slapping the girl while scolding her for misbehaving.

All that time, Marsalina is shown doing something on her mobile phone.

The footage was secretly taken in February by the children’s parents by remote-control camera and saved on their mobile phones, the report said.

The girl told the judge Marsalina would beat her for no reason.

Marsalina denied the charges.

Her lawyer produced a video clip which shows the girl playing with Marsalina and hugging her before going off to school.

The trial continues.
