Pakistani wanted in the death of Indonesian woman

Hong Kong police are looking for a Pakistani man believed to be the boyfriend of an Indonesian woman whose body was found wrapped in a mattress on Monday.

Residents found the body of Wiji Astutik Supardi, 37, in Changsha Street in Hong Kong’s Mong Kok district, according to Apple Daily.

It had multiple bruises but the cause of death will not be known until after an autopsy Tuesday, the report said, citing the police.

Lo Chung-wong, acting chief inspector in the Kowloon West regional headquarters who is in charge of the case, said the body was fully clothed.

The victim’s personal belongings including her wallet, an Octopus card and jewelry were intact.

She might have been dead more than 24 hours, he said.

Supardi had been living with her Pakistani boyfriend in the area where her body was found, police said.

She came to Hong Kong in 2007 and was holding a temporary identity card, pending approval of her refugee application.

In February, she was assaulted by her boyfriend, leaving her with cuts in her arms and face, but refused to press charges, according to police records.

The Pakistani man has a string of offenses including theft, possession of drugs and domestic violence, the report said.
