361 Degrees International Ltd. (01361.HK) and XTEP International Holdings Ltd. (01368.HK) are separately allying with technology firms to launch smart sports gear, the Hong Kong Economic Journal reported Tuesday.

Leading sports apparel maker 361 Degrees is partnering with LeTV Sports Culture Develop (Beijing) Co. Ltd. to jointly develop smart sportswear integrating internet resources.

It will also join hands with internet giant Baidu Inc. in the making of smart shoes for children, Ding Wuhao, president of 361 Degrees, said in a Hong Kong media briefing Monday.

XTEP is also collaborating with Qihoo 360 Technology Co. Ltd. on smart shoes for children.

Smart chips will be embedded in the shoes to allow a smartphone app to pinpoint the location of the wearer.

XTEP is also considering setting up an online-to-offline sales platform and collecting users’ health data while they are working out.

Li Ning Co. Ltd. (02331.HK) said earlier it is launching smart running shoes in the third quarter with Xiaomi Technology, using smartphones and chips.
