North Point dog found in Tai Wai after going missing for a month

A spotted mutt that has gone missing since late May in North Point was finally retrieved in Tai Wai on Monday, Ming Pao Daily reported.

The 11-month-old dog named Aladdin went missing from Braemar Mansions at Braemar Hill towards the end of May.

He made headlines when staff of the Cross Harbour Tunnel Company saw him crossing the tunnel towards Hung Hom in early June.

A group of concerned citizens had offered a reward of HK$20,000 for anyone who could help locate the missing pet.

On Saturday,  Aladdin was reported to have been sighted in Tai Wai. Volunteers from an animal rights group helped local residents catch the dog by using roasted goose heads and ribs as baits.

Aladdin is now under the care of the Hong Kong Dog Rescue Center on Lamma Island, looking content after his journey that lasted a month and a half.

Dog Rescue founder Sally Anderson said the dog could not stop waving his tail and licking her hand.

Anderson said the Aladdin might have traveled to Causeway Bay and Central, before crossing the Cross Harbour tunnel and Lion Rock tunnel to reach Tai Wai.
