A mouse photographed on a cooked food counter is stirring social media, with some commenters disgusted by it while others are taken by its cuteness.
The photo went viral after it was posted on Facebook, inspiring 3,000 likes and 2,000 shares, according to Ming Pao Daily.
Nicole Yip snapped the rodent in front of a dish pan labeled “grilled pork ribs with herbs” in Taste supermarket in Tuen Mun Town Plaza on July 25.
The photo was uploaded to a Facebook page — Tuen Mun Good Life — on Sunday.
“WOW … so fresh … the mouse!” a netizen commented.
But others found the whole thing disgusting, so did Taste which said it will thoroughly investigate the matter.
It said it had not received any complaints about the incident.
A spokesman said Taste takes hygiene seriously.
Shops are cleaned regularly and checks are carried out by quality inspectors, he said.
Also, professionals regularly conduct pest control on the premises.
Taste became an internet sensation in June when its fusion food “siu mei with rice in a bite” lit up discussion forums.
