What is it with these young couples?
This is not the first time it happened, and apparently it won’t be the last.
A video clip showing a furious young lady beating up a man, who is kneeling down to seek her forgiveness, has gone viral on social media.
The footage, said to have been taken near the intersection of Fa Yuen Street and Bute Street in Mong Kok around 3 a.m. Tuesday, drew more than a million hits within eight hours after it was uploaded onto a Facebook account, Apple Daily reported on Thursday.
The two appear to be in their 20s and are obviously in a relationship.
In the seven-minute footage, the young woman repeatedly slaps her boyfriend and kicks him in the head and neck. She tells him to jump from a tall building or eat shxx.
But her non-stop beating and verbal humiliation fail to discourage the young man, who refuses to go away. He continues to beg her not to leave him.
As to be expected, netizens had a field day making fun of the couple.
Some said the guy deserved what he got for being a wimp, while others threw scorn at the girl, saying such an attitude is the reason why many Hong Kong women are unable to find a lasting relationship.
Others made fun of the scene by editing the video and splicing it with cartoon and martial arts movie clips.
Barrister Albert Luk said police have the right to look into the incident as beating someone for whatever reason is unlawful.
He said the young woman could be charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm if the man was badly injured.
