HMV Retail Ltd. is relocating its store at The Park Lane in Causeway Bay to Pearl City Mansion, which is only a block away.
The music record chain has put out a notice that its old shop will have its last day of business on Wednesday, after which it will move to the new location, Apple Daily reported on Tuesday.
It is understood that the lease contract for the existing store will soon expire, and the company is considering business expansion.
It has rented a 40,000 sq ft space at Pearl City Mansion, which is located at the intersection of Paterson Street and reat George Street.
It will be HMV’s biggest store in Hong Kong.
The company, which was acquired in 2013 by private equity firm AID Partners Capital under Crosby Capital Ltd. (08088.HK), has been operating in Hong Kong since 1994. It moved to The Park Lane in 2006 from its original site at Windsor House in Causeway Bay.
Since it took over, AID Partners has been implementing many changes in the company, including opening a coffee shop in the store and expanding its product line for children.
