Woman escapes falling tree branch near PLA mansion

A woman narrowly escaped serious injury when a tree branch broke and fell at a bus stop in Kowloon Tong.

The 56-year-old woman, surnamed Ma, was waiting for a bus with two companions when the accident happened at about 8 a.m. on Monday near the corner of Cornwall Street and Kent Road.

A five meter branch came off a flame tree and clipped an oncoming bus before falling to the ground.

A shaken Ma was brought to hospital where she was treated for minor injuries, according to Metro Daily.

The tree is on the grounds of a three-story mansion intended for senior officials of the People’s Liberation Army garrison.

Its branches overhang the wall and part of the bus stop.

Police investigators said the house is unoccupied and under renovation.
