A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of child abuse and causing bodily harm after he kicked his girlfriend and their nine-month old baby girl out of his car and sped away.
The woman suffered cuts to her arms and legs while the infant sustained unspecified injuries to her head.
Mother and daughter were taken to the Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital.
The man, surnamed Ma, was arrested when he returned to the scene of the incident, Ming Pao Daily reports.
Witnesses said they saw the couple quarrelling inside the car at a roundabout in Fu Shin Estate in Tai Po.
In July, Ma was the subject of a child abuse complaint after he left his daughter on a refrigerator in a convenience store.
The baby fell and injured her head, sparking a heated argument with his girlfriend.
Ma refused to bring the infant to hospital and instead brought her out of the shop and left her in the street under the rain.
The incident was captured by a CCTV camera.
Ma was arrested and allowed to post bail. He is due to report back to the police at the end of this month.
Ellis Hon, a professor of pediatrics in the Chinese University of Hong Kong, said a one-meter fall could cause brain injury to an infant.
If there is brain hemorrhage, the child could develop seizures and suffer long-term brain damage.
